The Art Journal – Garvey Edition

Sometimes, art isn’t meant to stay in one place.
A painting hangs on a wall. A sketch lives in a notebook. But occasionally, a piece of art has the potential to travel with you, to become part of your daily life, to carry ideas and inspiration into your hands.
That’s the idea behind the Art Journal – Garvey Edition. I took my Marcus Garvey illustration — a piece that’s deeply meaningful to me — and turned it into a functional notebook. A place for sketches, for notes, for reflections, for plans. A space to build thoughts that matter, alongside the artwork that inspires them.
Creating this journal reminded me that art can live in layers. It can be admired, yes, but it can also be used, carried, and interacted with. By turning an illustration into something practical, I wanted to explore a different way for art to exist in the world — not just to observe, but to participate.
This isn’t just a notebook. It’s a mini-studio in your bag. A companion for artists, thinkers, students, and anyone looking to hold creativity in their hands.
It’s part of a larger idea I’ve been thinking about in my studio: how art, ideas, and everyday life intersect. The journal is small, yes, but it’s a physical manifestation of the creative practice I try to live every day. And in a way, it’s an invitation — an encouragement — to carry your own thoughts, plans, and reflections alongside something that moves you.
